Services

Services

Besides fine-art prints, I offer a variety of services. I'm based in Seattle, and am happy to call the Puget Sound area and the east-slopes of the Cascades my home! If you're out of that area, I'm available to travel depending on the circumstances. Please contact me and let's discuss!

Close Encounter

Portraits Under the Stars

Looking for something a little different to announce your engagement or other special occasion? Join me for a portrait session under the stars! Together, we'll journey to a dark sky site, and I'll work to capture you and your loved ones in a fun and compelling way that features you with the beauty of the night sky. It's creative, exciting, and a little bit exhausting, but a ton of fun and you'll come away with something that will make your friends go "wow!" when they see it.

I can tailor the experience to every interest and ability. Whether you want to hike miles into the wilderness, or stay right next to the car, together we can create something that you'll love. Besides the night sky, we can also work with other fun ideas, like light painting, steel wool, props, and more. If you love the "after dark" look but the wilderness isn't your thing, we can journey into the city too.

Getting a compelling portrait after dark often requires patience, as we'll have to wait for the right conditions based on your vision. I can sometimes accommodate last minute requests, but contact me as early as possible to discuss what you're after. Sometimes the right conditions for your vision are rare, and we may need to prepare in advance.

Pricing varies greatly depending on what you are looking for, but starts around $300, including digital delivery of your images. If you'd like something to hang on your wall, I offer a huge variety of products for an additional fee. Unlike a traditional portrait session, shots under the stars take a huge amount of time, so we won't come away with quite as many shots as you would in a studio, but you will still come away with something you love.

If you're ready to get started, or just want to learn a little more, I invite you to contact me to see what we can create!

One-on-one Instruction

Learning to take compelling night sky photos is a challenging and long journey, but a great coach can help! I'm available for one-on-one instruction to help you master the basics or take your night sky shots to the next level. From planning and prep, to field technique, to post-processing, there's a lot to learn and I can help you achieve your goals.

In the field sessions are an end-to-end session where we do it all, taking new pictures and working on them together. Unless you want to focus on one specific thing, I like to take a split-session approach to one-on-one instruction. When we're in the field together, my focus is completely on you and your success. I'll work with you on your shots, your technique, creative decisions, and more. After we're done for the night, we'll reconvene on Skype or in person to work on post-processing together so that you get the result you're after!

Outside of in the field sessions, I'm also available for post-processing help. Thanks to the miracles of modern technology (aka Skype), I can serve you anywhere in the world! I'm happy to help with all aspects of night sky post processing, from beginner to expert. We can work on your images together, or if you like I can show you how I've processed mine. I can also help with complex processing topics, like tracking, stacking, exposure blending, and more.

I have limited availability for one-on-one instruction, so please contact me as soon as possible to start discussing your session!
